I am writing this post and scheduling it for the release day.
You can find the book here!
As the release day is tomorrow, my excitement grows. I am only a first-time author, and while my expectations are realistic, I also feel a sense of accomplishment. There is something liberating about creating a book and letting it out into the wild.
Since my last post, where I mentioned almost being done, I have probably sunk another 100 hours and read the book a couple more times.
Formatting for KDP and the Kindle version proved difficult, but I think I got there in the end; I am happy with how the book looks.
It was funny because my last step was to check if any names were hyphenated and transfer them over properly to new lines. As I finished and uploaded my final manuscript, I shifted the pages and noticed a punctuational mistake in the manuscript; when I went to fix it, it moved so many of my lines over that I ended up cautiously letting the error go. And to be honest, after so many edits and using Word and Grammarly to fix my punctuation, if a mistake or two made it in – they deserve it; good for them.
I will put a modest ad campaign on the book on Amazon now and I am eagerly awaiting my first review! And eventually any follow-up reviews! As long as that takes, I know that books or any other media tend to get buried, but I hope if you are reading this that ‘The Girl That Danced With Spirits’ was your cup of tea.
I am now slowly working on my next book, I can’t tell you the title as of yet I am split between ‘Born Evil’ and other variants of the character’s name whose backstory I am diving into. I think this one might end up a bit longer. For ‘The Girl That Danced With Spirits’ I managed to take it down from 60K words to 55K for the size book I intended to make. ‘Born Evil’ might be in the 65-70k range. As I say this with a pinch of salt, knowing it might be months before I even have the manuscript all written out.
In any case, know I am around and writing. I will read each and every review and message I receive, if any. Also, I will make an effort to post any updates here. Sorry, I’m not really on social media! Take care of yourself and see you soon!
Nikola
P.s. The cover I used for this post is the first draft that I made.
